August 12, 2008 — Computer Associates (CAI) today announced Quote System Integral (QSI), an easy-to-use, Windows-based software tool that’s revolutionizing the manufacture of custom doorway and entry systems, specialized moulding and other millwork products where value-added differentiation can make, or not make, the sale.

CAI will demonstrate the new QSI tool, along with the company’s Ponderosa Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and StairCon staircase design and production software, in Booth 5038 at the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) 2008. The IWF is being held during August 20-23 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center.

“In a business climate with sales volumes that may be less than brisk for many millwork companies, it’s increasingly important to protect and maximize margins,” said Pat Gannon, vice president of sales for Computer Associates. “One sure fire approach is to differentiate from competitors by offering product configuration and build options that match their customers’ unique tastes and buying requirements. The new QSI software offers jobbers the ability to quickly design and promote higher-end, upscale millwork products that can set a company apart.”

Using the QSI tool, door manufacturers, for example, can quickly design and sell a full line of value-added door and entry system designs. QSI’s graphical interface and ‘Quick Entry’ feature lets users customize a wide array of baseline interior or exterior door styles, or templates. The door design can then be easily modified by selecting various product options, including door width and height, panel and muntin design, glass type and thickness, rails and several other product components. In addition, QSI can produce detailed drawings that can be e-mailed or faxed to customers for fast sign-off.

The QSI tool is available stand-alone or with CAI’s Ponderosa Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution.
